Lessons in reading...

So my curiousity got the better of me after so many years of hearing about EVE Online, I decided to download EVE Online for the free 14 day trial. Once I had it downloaded, I could not install it due to corrupt file, so I went online to find the solution which lead me to the EVE Online forums where apparently I am not alone in this matter. So I tried to reply to the post and it asks me for my account name and password. This is not a problem so I do so, but the next screen was the problem. It asks me for the character name on the account....one problem with this. I CANNOT create a character if I cannot even install the game. So I set out for support and explain to them about my issue.

Here is the replies between me and the GM.

Me:

Hello, I am trying to login to the forums so I can post MY other issue. I installed the free 14 day trial client and having issues with it. I DO NOT have a character made yet so kinda hard for me to confirm WHAT my characters name is when it does NOT exist yet!

Alot of people are having the same issue I am having with the download client so...how am I to fix my issue when I cant even login into the forums properly.

GM:

Hi,

Can you please tell us you bought the game via steam, or did you just want to use the trial ?

Best Regards,
GM Lovakat,
EVE Customer Support.

(Seriously?)

Me:

I stated I installed the free 14 day trial client so I wanted to just use the trial to test it out but apparently there is an issue with your client.

I wanted to try the game out before I buy it, but if the free client doesn't work, kinda hard to test it out don't ya think?

GM:

Hi,

Have you created the trial account at this address https://secure.eveonline.com/ft/FreeTrialSignup.aspx ? Could you please try with this one and tell me what account name you chose ?

Best Regards,
GM Lovakat,
EVE Customer Support.

ME:

Yes I have created an trial account, just cant even install the game because the client is corrupt, so therefore I cannot login and create a character.

Username: Name withheld

GM:

Hi,

I have checked the account, and everything seems to be fine. Did you get the client to work ? You should be able to log in game to create the character. Once you will have created the character, you will be able to log in on the website.

Best Regards,
GM Lovakat,
EVE Customer Support.

(bangs head on desk repeatedly)

Aggravated Me:

No I CANNOT get the client to INSTALL as I said previously which is WHY I was trying to log onto the forums to join in on a post with the people with the same problem as I have.

Forum- The issue is that it REQUESTS a name of the character on your account. I DO not have ONE made yet so therefore I cannot get onto the forums.

Client- Will not install due to corrupt installer which I downloaded directly from your site.

To be continued...I am still waiting for a reply...

Language Between Two Worlds

As the years go by, I find myself slowly losing an important part of who I am and slowly forgetting a language that was important part of my life. Sign Language. For those who are not aware, I am hard of hearing in the right ear and deaf in the left ear but if you spoke to me you would never guessed that I suffer from hearing loss at first until I utter the following words I hate saying: "Excuse me?" "Didn't hear what you said" or "Can you please repeat that?" or sometimes I just don't even bother because people get annoyed by having to repeat themselves.

Ever since I left the school for the deaf which was mainstreamed with hearing kids and as time goes by I find myself feeling very much alone because I am not around others like me. So I slowly loose the knowledge of sign language and its very frustrating because for 13 years it was a big factor in my life. Best way I can explain it is that its like losing the ability to speak. Imagine talking daily then gradually loosing your speech and then you could no longer talk. THAT is what losing the ability to read and speak sign language is like. When I do try to sign with others, I find myself sign stuttering or pausing because I cannot remember the sign.

Last night, I was watching a video that one of my friends posted and I tried so hard to follow the conversation which was in sign language and I felt like yelling at it going WHERES THE CAPTIONING, since I watch tv with captioning when people talk it helps out.

Anyhow, I am just rambling on right now and just feeling alone because I miss my friends I grew up with and signed with.

Demise of two...

Yesterday I was saddened by the news, what news you ask? The death of Peter Falk, who watched growing up on various movies and shows such as Princess Bride and Columbo.

I can still hear Peter Falk telling Fred Savage who portrayed as his grandson in the movie Princess Bride about this book that he is going to read to him.

The Grandson: A book?
Grandpa: That's right. When I was your age, television was called books. And this is a special book. It was the book my father used to read to me when I was sick, and I used to read it to your father. And today I'm gonna read it to you.
The Grandson: Has it got any sports in it?
Grandpa: Are you kidding? Fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, true love, miracles...
The Grandson: Doesn't sound too bad. I'll try to stay awake.
Grandpa: Oh, well, thank you very much, very nice of you. Your vote of confidence is overwhelming.
From that moment on I was hooked on Princess Bride and I even went out and bought the book a short while later after seeing the movie. Peter Falk will be missed ...As you wish....and thank you for your years of entertaining us.

The other news that made me sad but was not unexpected was the future death of a game called Star Wars Galaxies which is an MMORPG. In the beginning, I was an active player of SWG and was also juggling between it and Final Fantasy XI. I was torn on which one to play so I played both for quite sometime. Off and on for several years I would take a break from the game and come back and play for extended period of time until one day...which ruined the game for me and thousands of other players.

The "New Game Enhancement" which basically was the cancer of the game and is just now finally killing off an old friend. I know it sounds sad and pathetic that I would be upset over a game but I met a lot of good people and had fun times with them but after "NGE" hit...they slowly faded away. Which made me my barely come back except maybe once or twice a year if that, just to see if there had been truly any improvements.

To this day, I often wonder where my friends are and how they are doing and for one I am thankful that I did get to play SWG because I went on a journey...in a galaxy far away from here and made friends. Dec. 15, 2011 will be a sad day but hopefully our paths will cross again in the new mmorpg.. Star Wars: The Old Republic and if you are curious about it, send me a message and maybe we can create our own new adventures together.

SWG, thank you for the memories and friendships.

Tales of Dreams and Imagination

I woke up one morning and I was only 3 feet tall and was confused by my surroundings so I got up and noticed I was in a countryside surrounded by Acorn huts, where am I thought to myself..then the answer came to me out of nowhere. I was in a small village of Nelwyn...

Wait a second..that wasn't me that was me playing the game Willow. A great movie and NES (Nintendo Entertainment System for you youngsters! GET OFF MY LAWN!) RPG game.

As a child I used to play this game for countless hours, enjoying the fact I was playing a game from one of my favorite movies. It took me months to beat this game, unlike the games of today, which pose hardly any challenge because the market audience wants things easier.

This game has lots of dungeons, and maze like areas which can be bit infuriating but it teaches you patience which is not any easy thing for a kid with HDD/ADD....like me. OOO shiny obj-....oh we were talking about Willow. Its a great challenging game for NES and I recommend those who have seen the movie to play it.

Controls are bit clunky and there is no jumping but has a great story line and challenges..question is...are you up for the challenge?
