Final Fantasy Fans Rejoice...

I'm sure this is rather old news by now but I am excited and looking forward to the next TWO Final Fantasy titles, Final Fantasy 13 and 14. Final Fantasy 14 is an new online mmo and I don't have much information at this time but for those people who have never played the Final Fantasy series, should give it a shot, also I will be using FF as an abbr. for Final Fantasy so that way no one is confused on what I'm talking about.

Okay, here is what I do know about FF14 that has been confirmed. I got this from a FF fansite.

Setting and Story
The story takes place in a new area known as “Eorzea” and although it does feature some monsters and classes related to Final Fantasy 11, they have been remodelled to be unique to Eorzea. The similarities however, allow Final Fantasy 11 users to be able to create characters that look comparable. New races will also be included in FF14.
Eorzea is a region in the world of Haiderin and is a world blessed with high technology. However it will not be a science fiction style world seen in FF10 or FF11 and will return to the roots of earlier Final Fantasy games.

Platforms

It has been confirmed that Final Fantasy 14 will be released on the Playstation 3 and Windows PC platforms. An XBox 360 version has not been confirmed but talks are taking place between Square Enix and Microsoft
Operating system compatibility has not been specified, with the development team merely saying it depends on what is out at the time. It has been said that they are not looking to get on the cutting edge of technology with this instalment and whilst the system requirements may be very high on release, within a few years an average system will be able to play it at maximum settings.

Ok, side note
VERY high requirements..for PC.

ok who's kidney and liver do I need to sell for a new pc?

How much do you think I can sell my fiancee and her boys for on ebay?

No.

No, no, no.

I couldn't possibly do that.

*checks ebay's terms of service*

I couldn't possibly do that.

Dammit.

But....I will take donations!!

*clears throat*

Ok on with the information.

Battle System

The FF14 development team have said that, unlike FF11, the heavy emphasis on team play has been scaled down and a more balanced solution, focusing on solo play too, has been found. It presents a significant departure from the FF11 system in that strategic elements have been added to encounters.

This implies that there will be a learning curve, but beginners can expect simpler options to allow them to edge their way into the game. Battles will no longer be real-time action-style encounters and will require a bit more thought.

Character Levelling and Jobs

The developers have attributed the long-term success of FF11 to its job system and plan to expand this significantly in FF14. The aim is to end up with something completely different but yet achieve the same effect of maintaining lasting appeal to the players.
Instead of leveling via experience, weapons will play a key role. The developers promised there will be no more need to grind XP for levels and they have something new in store.

Game Service

Square Enix has confirmed that PlayOnline will not be used for FF14. This is due to the fact that PlayOnline was originally designed as an all-in-one solution for housing multiple content types, but as FF14 will solely be the game, there is no need to use the PlayOnline service.
Square Enix have revealed that PC and Playstation 3 users will still be able to play with each other and that you will sign in with a universal ID, allowing you to continue your progress on either platform.
Security Tokens (a recent release for FF11) generate a random six digit number upon every login to the PlayOnline service. Without this number it is impossible to login to an account. It has been confirmed that this system will be used to secure Final Fantasy 14 accounts.

Release Date

The game is set to come out in mid-to-late 2010, after the release of FF13 (which is scheduled for spring 2010). Plans for a beta are still in the works but the indications are that FF14 will be given a considerably longer beta period than FF11 (which had one of 3-4 months)

*Camps out at the Beta site*
BACK OFF I GOT THIS!
Throw's a shiny to distract you.
Didn't work? You are still here?
Crap...

Payment Plan

A more versatile payment plan is being considered, based on 30-day payment cycles. This would allow billing to be on a daily instead of monthy cycle and help avoid users paying for unused time. It will also lessen the inconvenience of the regularly scheduled billing maintenance. Importantly it will allow people to register and delete characters at any time, something currently unavailable in Final Fantasy 11.

Nice idea and all but I'm not so sure about you but I really don't wanna check my balance daily to make sure I have enough to play...

Okay, I have shared some of the information and the rest can be read at the link below.
